Developing a Cosmetic Product with us
Developing a cosmetic product can be a complex process, but it can also be an incredibly rewarding one. Whether you're interested in creating a skincare line or developing a new haircare product, there are several key steps you should follow to ensure your product is safe, effective, and successful in the market
Paperwork
Once we fully understand the products you want to develop, we will provide you with our quote for the development work, along with a copy of our Development Agreement, which sets out the terms and conditions of this. We will also turn your brief into a Statement of Work, setting out exact parameters for what the product should be.

The Brief
The brief is perhaps the most critical point of the whole development process. It is here that we can really come to understand exactly what it is that you’re looking for in your products, as well as what you need from them in order to be viable. For this reason, it’s important to give as much detail as possible on the desired functionality, fragrance, format and feel, as well as indications of the packaging you’ll be using, where you wish to sell the product, the price points you’ll require and the initial volumes you’ll be looking to produce.
2-3 weeks
The Samples
Usually included in our development fees are up to five rounds of samples - this is normally more than enough to reach the product you have in mind! Clear, accurate and detailed feedback is critical to ensure that we’re able to achieve a product that you’re thrilled with in the shortest time possible
16 weeks on average, but can vary depending on product type and any particular requirements
Sign Off
Once we have reached your goals for the product, and you’re completely happy with it, we refer to that particular formulation version as “signed off”. We can then begin the processes that are required by law to make this product legal for sale.
The Testing process
Your signed off product now needs to be put through its paces in a series of tests, designed to ensure that the product remains safe, stable and effective for a significant length of time. Successful completion of these tests leads to the assembly of a Cosmetic Product Safety Report (often abbreviated to CPSR), which is an in-depth assessment of the product with a particular focus on the safety of the end user.

The Legal Stuff
Once your product has completed the testing process, there are some legal requirements that need to be met. The text on your packaging needs to contain a number of specific things, a Product Information File needs to be assembled, and for products which will be sold in the UK and/or EU, a dossier needs to be uploaded to the relevant Portal. We will offer thorough support and assistance to you on all of these matters.
2-6 weeks
Moving to Manufacture
It’s finally time to get this product onto shelves and into your customers’ hands! We will guide you through the process of scaling up and bringing the product into the cosmetic market. Once the product has been manufactured, packaging only takes a matter of days and then we can delivery the product directly to you or we can store them in our warehouse ready for when you need them.
